It has been the most amazing weather in Brisbane lately so I wanted to make a long lightweight dress. This sewing pattern was one that I have previously made in the shorter version are really loved so I thought it was perfect.

Pattern Information

Description:  The dress features a low v-neckline, front bust pleats, back bodice darts and a shaped waist band with optional self fabric ties.
Pattern: Sia Dress – Marsha Style
Fabric: Rayon material from Spotlight with a cotton poplin lining

What did you like about this pattern?

This dress is fully lined with a white cotton poplin and is lightweight for summer. It’s also not tight fitting, which makes it really comfortable to wear.

I was luckily a part of the Sia Dress testing group so I was able to test out the pattern and provide feedback along the way. However, the pattern was already really well designed and the instructions are very thorough. If you’re new to sewing this would be the perfect pattern catering for all types of sewing skills and sizes. There are also a number of beautiful versions of this dress on Instagram for some inspiration and ideas on how to design it.

Did you make any alternations to the pattern?

The alterations I made to this pattern was stitching up the front part of the dress so it wasn’t left with gaping open. After wearing it once I discovered that I would actually stitch up a bit further. If you find the same you could always add a clasp or simply stitch the front together.

Would you recommend this pattern to others?

This is a beautiful pattern and the instructions come with a very detailed pattern book. It’s also quite affordable for indie style patterns.
