Pin Peg Denim Mini Skirt

I was asked by Annie from Nine Stitches to be a pattern tester for the Pin Peg Mini skirt. I jumped at the opportunity when asked because I was heading off to an overseas holiday in Vegas and thought this would be the perfect addition to my summer wardrobe.

Pattern Information

Pattern: The Pin Peg Mini Skirt
Description: High-waisted, fashionable short skirt made from thick denim or heavy weight fabrics.
Fabric Used: My two versions were made from stretch cotton sateen and stretch denim

Did you make any changes to the design?

There was one piece that I accidentally omitted from the pattern that worked in, or under, the front zipper. However, doing this it still worked out great. I ended up using a large skirt length zipper for the front, so omitting this pattern piece didn’t matter with the end design.

What did you like about this pattern?

It’s a perfect high-waisted, young, fashionable skirt that worked great in the thicker denim fabric. It’s been one of my highest rotation skirts since I made it back in June 2015 and was able to add it to my summer holiday wardrobe. I liked that it had the angled zipper across the front to give it more unique, fashionable style than other skirt patterns on the market. It also only included a few pattern pieces so it was really quick and easy to stitch up.

Would you recommend this pattern to others?

I would recommend this pattern to others and is probably a good pattern for beginners. However, given I was a tester the pattern may have also had a few variations to the pattern design and instructions so it’s probably even easier to follow and more likely that you’re not going to skip any pattern pieces like I did.

It’s always great to check instagram and pattern review to see what other people create in this design to get some ideas on the final look. Overall I really liked it and have since created a few versions for myself to wear during the hot Queensland summers!
